Unit 1 - Welcome and Introduction to HTML
Welcome to Unit 1. In this Unit you will be introduced to the basic structure of the Web called HTML. Over the last couple of years the standards have been updated. HTML 5 is just starting to emerge (year 2010) and CSS version 3 is in full swing. Before you begin this class make sure you read the syllabus.
Here is your checklist for Unit 1.
- Introduce Yourself to the rest of the class.
- Get a copy of the text book or the e-book of it.
- Install the software and add-ons as listed below.
- Complete the assignment and turn it in.
Next you will need to download and install the following on the computer you use.
- Firefox Web Browser Links to an external site.

- Wave add-on for Firefox Links to an external site.
Readings
- Chapters 1 & 2 in the textbook
- Settings for Notepad or TextEdit
- Watch this tutorial on setting your Canvas alerts and profile. Links to an external site.
Assignment
- Introduce Yourself to the rest of the class using the Introduce Yourself Discussion (5 pts)
- You will work through Chapters 1 & 2 in the Textbook and complete the following to turn in your completed case study from Chapter 2. Follow this link for Unit 1 Assignment specifics and to turn it in.
