The Summary Essay will require you to include both MLA and APA citations for the source you've chosen, at the end of your summary document. The good news is that these citations are available for you, already done, through the TCC library.
To make sure that you're all set when the final essay is due, I'm going to ask that you send me these citations ahead of time to make sure they're in good shape.
Submit a Google Doc that contains the MLA and APA citations for the article you're summarizing. Also include a short paragraph (3-5 sentences) that describes what you see as the differences between these two citation styles for the same article. Why do you think that APA or MLA have the rules that they do for citation formatting? What seems to be important to each organization? How can you tell?
This is a practice assignment, so you will get full credit as long as all work is attempted, even if citations aren't perfect.
Please note that many APA citations in our library are missing a crucial last element. If the APA version ends with a "doi" followed by lots of numbers, it's fine. If it doesn't have this, though, you will need to add the statement Retrieved from -name of database-. to the end of the citation. Example: Retrieved from Academic Search Premier.
For more guidance about how to find these citations through our library, watch this brief video I made.

Please submit this as a Google Doc, so that I can add comments to point out any problems with citations--all in the goal of improving the score on your Essay submission.
