Notes from Survivors

From C.W.:
"Words Of Wisdom
I loved the step by step process on the final essay. It helps take an assignment that can easily become overwhelming and places it in a structured, simple process. The PDO was brilliant and really helped me understand my essay and what direction it was taking and where it needed to go - a very affective activity.
Advice: When selecting your final essay topic pick something you are really passionate about, the more you feel for the topic the better you will write and the more motivated you will be."

From M.T.:
"I've enjoyed my experience in this class. I can't think of anthing that I'd change. The due dates were very do-able, the assignments were generally stress free, and the organization of the course was top notch.
My writing style has not changed, I have improved at doing citations and bibliographies though. I got lots of practice doing those in this class.
If I was to give advice to the next class, I have a few words. First off, do assignments early. The work load changes from week to week, and on the easier weeks I was glad I did my work early. You never know when a "hard" week will come. Also, if anything goes wrong with your computer or you loose your work, you won't scramble at the last minute if you've attempted the assignment early. I would also advise the next class to be thorough in your answers. I think I lost some points because my answers were too short. I would definitely advise that this class be taken on line, it made it a lot easier for me to work with. My schedule is rather hectic.
That's all I've got. Enjoy!"

From Z.I.:
"This is the first fully online class I have taken on angel. The only real piece of advice I have for the next group of people is to get our work at the beginning and do it right away, or at least put a dent in it that way you're not scrambling at the last second trying to get it all done and in."

Finally, click this link to see a video of 5 former English 101 students.  Though they're speaking about a different class, I do think they have some valuable insights to share about taking online writing courses, in general.  Also, though I'm the only instructor mentioned by name in this video, these are not all my former students.  These students come from 3 different teachers & sections of English 101 online.
