Lurking behind every place in Canvas where there is a Rich Content Editor (like you see at the top of pages, when in Edit Mode) there lurks an HTML Editor.

Disclaimer: I am not a coder, and have never pretended to be one, but being able to use the HTML Editor to enhance Canvas pages is a very useful skill. I have learned how to steal, insert and modify some code snippets to my advantage.

The purpose of this Canvas classroom is to share with the more adventurous some great tips and tricks for using the HTML Editor (HTE) to obtain results in Canvas that cannot be done with just the Rich Content Editor (RCE).

This classroom is organized around five modules, as shown in the table below which was created by pasting code into the HTML Editor and making some minor edits.........

About HTML Code and the HTML Code Editor - DO NOT FEAR THE CODE	This introductory module will provide a brief explanation of the HTML Editor in Canvas and how to use it, and some very brief information about HTML code in general The button to the left will take you to the first page of the module, which just happens to be this page. You will learn how to add a table like this in the Advanced Users module.
Beginning Users	Simple snippets any user can start with. The button to the left will take you to the first page of this module.
Intermediate Users	This module includes examples that are just a bit more tricksy, but still quite easy with a bit of practice. The button to the left will take you to the first page of this module.
Advanced Users	Yes, so of the examples in this module are tough, but they are mostly tough because they require some preparation and twiddling (a technical term used by geeks) to make them work right. The button to the left will take you to the first page of this module.
Uber Advanced Users	This link will take you to the first page of a module that will include code snippets that require modification of the global script for you Canvas instance. Use with caution!
Sharing	The button to the left will take you to a Canvas Discussion where you can ask questions and share your trials, tribulations and triumphs with the rest of us. You are also encouraged to share your own HTML tips and tricks. This module also includes some very useful external resources

Expect this classroom to be constantly changing and growing as I/We add more great examples! Plan to come back here often, because I created this space to be an ongoing learning environment for our Canvas users.
